Blinken: There is a tremendous opportunity to normalize relations between Israel and its neighbors

The US Secretary of State said: In the coming months, there will be a "tremendous opportunity" for Israel to normalize its relations with its Arab neighbors.

US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said on Saturday: In the coming months, there will be a “tremendous opportunity” for Israel to normalize its relations with its Arab neighbors.

This senior American official added on Saturday at a round table at the Munich Security Conference that real efforts are underway led by Arab countries to revive the Palestinian Authority to be a more effective representative of the Palestinians.

Blinken claimed: “Almost every Arab country now really wants to integrate Israel into the region and establish normal relations and provide security commitments and guarantees so that Israel feels more secure.”

He added: “In my opinion, it is more necessary than ever to establish a Palestinian state that also guarantees Israel’s security.”

The US Secretary of State continued that Washington is committed to maintaining the security of Israel and guarantees that an operation similar to the Al-Aqsa storm will not happen again.

Blinken claimed: “Israel is now safer.”

The Biden administration is trying to secure a deal that would see relations between Saudi Arabia and Israel normalize, but Saudi Arabia and other Arab countries are said to be seeking the creation of a Palestinian state as part of the deal.

Washington is also trying to reach an agreement for the release of other Israeli prisoners held by Hamas.

On October 15, 1402, on October 7, 2023, the Palestinian resistance groups launched a surprise operation called “Al-Aqsa Storm” from Gaza (southern Palestine) against the positions of the Israeli regime. On November 24, 2023, a four-day temporary ceasefire was established between Israel and Hamas, or a pause for the exchange of prisoners between Hamas and Israel.

This pause in the war continued for 7 days and finally on the morning of Friday, December 10, 2023, the temporary ceasefire ended and the Israeli regime resumed attacks on Gaza. In order to retaliate for the surprise attacks of the “Al-Aqsa storm” and to compensate for its failure and stop the resistance operations, this regime has closed all the crossings of the Gaza Strip and is bombarding this area.
