China: We do not comment on Navalny/NATO: Moscow defends Beijing

In response to the death of the Russian opposition leader, the spokesperson of the Chinese Foreign Ministry stated that this is an internal issue, but the NATO Secretary General says that this is not Russia's internal issue and that Beijing is defending Moscow.

reported by Mehr News Agency quoted by Rashatoudi, Wang Wenbin, the spokesperson of the Chinese Foreign Ministry, refused to comment on the death of Alexei Navalny, the leader of the opposition to the Russian government, and emphasized that Moscow can manage its internal affairs without foreign interference.

The spokesman of the Chinese Foreign Ministry said in response to an AFP reporter’s question: This (Navalny’s death) is Russia’s internal issue and I will not comment on it.

This reaction of the spokesperson of the Chinese Foreign Ministry was immediately criticized by NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, who accused Beijing of supporting Moscow.

Stoltenberg told reporters at the Munich Security Conference on Saturday: “Today we received a statement from the Chinese Foreign Minister who said that Navalny’s death is Russia’s internal issue.” Well, this is not an internal matter of Russia.

The Secretary General of NATO further added: Beijing is closely monitoring the war in Ukraine. And what happens in Ukraine today will happen in Asia tomorrow. And the more successful Putin is in Ukraine, the more likely the Chinese president will use force against Taiwan.

On Friday, the prison center of the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Region of the Russian Federation in the Arctic Circle announced that Alexei Navalny, the leader of the Russian opposition, died today. .

In the statement of this penitentiary, it is pointed out that Navalny was not in a “good mood” after a daily walk and immediately lost consciousness. According to this statement, 47-year-old Navalny died in the ambulance despite the necessary measures and receiving emergency medical treatment, including resuscitation.

Dmitry Peskov, Kremlin spokesman, said that Navalny’s death was reported to Russian President Vladimir Putin. Navalny’s supporters claim that they cannot confirm his death, and if so, he was killed!
