The number of victims of landslides in the Philippines reached about 100 people

After about two weeks, the death toll from the landslide in the Philippines increased to about 100 people.

The Disaster Response Center of Mako City in Davao do Oro Province in the southern Philippines announced that rescue teams are still looking for nine people missing in the incident. Rescue teams initially announced that two buses carrying mining workers were stuck in the mud near the accident site.

In this incident, 32 people were also injured, and the regional authorities announced the death toll at 71 and the number of missing at 47.

The Global Risk Index in 2022 placed the Philippines at the top of the list of disaster prone countries. This archipelago, which is located in the so-called Pacific Ring of Fire, is constantly exposed to violent storms that lead to flash floods and landslides, and struggles with earthquakes and volcanic eruptions.
