According to the Russian TASS news agency, Putin made these statements in an interview with Pavel Zarubin, a journalist of the Russian State Radio and Television, and went on to say: It is important to make it clear to Russian and foreign viewers how much Russia cares about everything about Ukraine happens, it matters.

The Russian president added: For them (the West) it is about improving the tactical situation, but for us, it is about our destiny, it is actually a matter of life and death. I wanted people listening to this interview to understand this.

Putin announced: We had to use war tools instead of a peaceful solution, but at the same time, we were looking for a peaceful way to end the conflict, and we reached an agreement on some components in the Istanbul talks.

On March 2, 1400, criticizing the West’s indifference to Moscow’s security concerns, Russia recognized the independence of the Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics in the Donbas region, and after that, the conflict between Russia and Ukraine began.
