The ban on the use of mobile phones in British schools
According to local media reports, English students are no longer allowed to bring their mobile phones to school. |
The English newspaper The Times reported that the country’s schools have announced a comprehensive ban on the use of mobile phones in schools, issuing instructions to inspect students’ bags and strengthening discipline in educational institutions.
The newspaper adds: Mobile phones are to be banned in British schools under guidance issued to school principals today in an effort to reduce distractions and improve behavior in classrooms.
Accordingly, students who violate this ban will be fined to stay in school after the end of the lesson, as well as confiscation of their cell phones for as long as the school principal deems necessary.
The guidelines provide schools with 4 different methods to ensure compliance with the new rules. A simpler option is to completely ban the use of mobile phones on school premises. The second and third options include giving the phones to school staff or leaving them in special lockers during lessons. The fourth method allows keeping the mobile phone, but on the condition that it is not used, seen or heard.
