Erdogan said on the plane while returning from Egypt: “I say frankly that there is sincerity in Mr. Putin’s statements. In the meetings that took place in the framework of the Istanbul negotiations, we took various honest steps. The ministers met with the Russians. We worked with the aim of achieving a result, but we will not succeed in establishing peace under the current conditions. On the other hand, we cannot abandon the negotiations because we could not reach a conclusion. But we will not give up our efforts for peace and we will continue with peace and we will do everything we can to ensure it.”

He explained: David Cameron, the British foreign minister, recently approached us and we discussed these issues with him, if Mr. Putin meets us face to face (as (separately) to exchange views and if suitable ministers come from Russia, we will do this process of negotiation and peace with them to reach a result.

The Turkish president also confirmed that he will continue his contacts with both President Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy with the aim of resolving the Ukraine crisis through peaceful means. .

He added: We can make new efforts by managing military operations in order to achieve results and open a door to peace. If we want to achieve peace, we will surely find a way to achieve it
