America’s negative vote on the ceasefire is a green light for killing
China's representative at the United Nations considered the United States' veto of the cease-fire resolution in the Security Council as a "sanction to kill". |
Zhang Jun, China’s representative to the United Nations, said: “The US claim that the issuance of the resolution interferes with the ongoing diplomatic efforts is indefensible. Avoiding an immediate ceasefire is no different from giving the green light to continue killing.
According to Al Jazeera, last night the United States vetoed another draft resolution regarding the ceasefire in Gaza and prevented the end of the violence in this area.
This resolution, which was prepared by the Arab countries led by Algeria, received 13 positive votes, one negative vote and one abstention (from England). In order to approve the resolution in the Security Council, it is necessary to give at least 9 votes in favor and none of the 5 permanent members (America, France, England, Russia and China) oppose it.
America’s opposition to the cease-fire occurs when more than 80% of the population of Gaza has been displaced during the 4-month war and the number of Palestinian martyrs has exceeded 29,000.
