Only 10% of Europeans believe that Ukraine can win the war
Polls show that only 1 in 10 Europeans believe that Ukraine can win a war against Russia. |
According to a poll conducted across the European Union, almost two years after the start of the war in Ukraine, barely 10% of Europeans now believe that Kiev can defeat Moscow in a war, and most see some kind of “compromise” as the most likely way. They see an end to the war.
According to the Guardian, this time last year, the majority of Europeans wanted Ukraine to take back “all of its lost territory”.
This survey also showed that 20% of people see Russia as the winner of the war and 37% believe that the war will end with some kind of “compromise”.
Also, in Hungary, Greece, Italy and Austria, 64, 59, 52 and 49 percent of people wanted Ukraine to be pressured to accept the agreement.
Mark Leonard, a fellow at the Council on European Foreign Relations, who co-authored the poll, said most Europeans “want to prevent Russia from winning” but don’t believe Kiev can win militarily, so EU leaders must decide how Change the talk about war and seek more negotiations to establish peace.
It should be said, this survey was conducted before the complete withdrawal of Ukraine from the city of “Audioka” in the east. This action is said to be the most important Russian military victory since the capture of Bakhmut in 2022.
Ukraine cited lack of ammunition as the most important reason for its retreat from this key city.
