As the ambassador of Turkey in Tehran, how do you evaluate the relations between Iran and Turkey? In your opinion, in what areas do you need more cooperation?

Iran and Turkey have long-standing relations. These relationships go back hundreds of years. The people of Turkey and Iran have a lot in common in terms of customs and traditions and in terms of cultural heritage. In addition to this, the commercial relations between the two countries are ongoing from the past to the present day. I am sure these relations will continue. As the Turkish Embassy in Tehran, we will do our best to develop the relations between the two countries. I hope the level of relations between Tehran and Ankara will expand. Our colleagues in both Iran and Turkey are trying to promote friendly relations between the two countries. For example, in the new year, we are witnessing many positive developments in the relations between the two countries. One of these developments was the recent visit of the President of Iran to Turkey. The visit of the President of Iran to Ankara was blessed in our opinion. Important contracts were signed in various fields, and I hope these contracts will be implemented.

During this trip, the trade volume of the two countries was targeted at 30 billion dollars and even agreements were made in this field. According to this, our trade volume with Turkey is about 8.5 billion dollars, is it possible to reach a trade of 30 billion dollars?

Of course; This is possible. To achieve this goal, we need the cooperation and efforts of the two countries. Before the outbreak of corona, we had favorable trade relations with Iran. Only with the arrival of Corona, the level of economic relations between Iran and Türkiye decreased. We will try to increase the business relationship.

Mr. Ambassador, as a professor of Persian language and literature, you have done valuable work in this field as an ambassador. You work in Iran. Mr. Daria Aras, the former ambassador, was also their main activity regarding Persian language and literature. In my opinion, the Turkish government’s policy on choosing an ambassador for Iran is based on “cultural diplomacy”. Is this my understanding correct?

President and foreign ministers of our country thought it advisable to choose people who are more familiar with Iranian culture. As a friendly and brotherly country, Iran has a very good position in the popular and political society of Turkey. From my point of view, the selection of Mr. Darya Urs and then myself as the ambassador of Turkey in Tehran was purposeful. As an ambassador, I have the duty to give a cultural and friendly shape to the relations between the two countries. Of course, there will be activities in the political and economic dimension as well, but culture and literature are the best platform for the rapprochement of the two countries.

Despite the fact that the Zionist regime has not achieved anything in the Gaza attacks, it still insists on continuing this war. In your opinion, what should Islamic societies do to prevent the continuation of the Gaza war and the killing of Palestinian civilians, and what responsibility should they fulfill?

Unfortunately, Islamic countries have not acted to stop the war in Gaza. Of course, meetings have been held in international forums and at the level of Islamic countries, but there was no result. The people of Gaza are facing the crisis of the ship generation and migration. Of course, the developments in Gaza have caused global awakening. Israel’s attacks on the Palestinian people in recent months have caused its political isolation in the international community. As Islamic countries, we should learn from this issue. Iran and Turkey are two countries that have done a lot of good diplomacy regarding stopping the war in Gaza. But these actions are not enough. We must have more effective measures.
