Barzani’s claim about agreeing to the withdrawal of coalition troops from Iraq

The head of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq claims that he agrees with Baghdad's decision to withdraw the coalition forces from the territory of Iraq.

Nachirvan Barzani, the head of the Iraqi Kurdistan Region, claimed that he will stick to his commitment to any decision that Baghdad makes regarding the presence of international coalition forces.

According to Roudav, this is despite the fact that he did not hide his fear that after the withdrawal of the coalition forces, especially the Americans, the resistance groups will become a threat to the Kurdistan Region.

Nachirvan Barzani said in a conversation with Al-Arabiya network: The coalition forces came at the request of the Iraqi government to deal with ISIS, and it has been a long time since they arrived. Therefore, it is natural to negotiate again to determine the form of future relations between the coalition and Baghdad, and based on that, a decision will be made on what form the future relations will be.

However, according to Nechirvan Barzani, Daesh is still a significant threat to Iraq, stating that the reason for this is that the issue of Daesh is related to the stability of Syria and not just Iraq.

In response to whether the Kurdistan Region will become Iraq’s alternative geography for American bases, the head of the Kurdistan Region claimed: We will not separate the Kurdistan Region from Iraq.

This is despite the fact that during the past few days, Bazzani had meetings with the commanders of the coalition and the Americans and expressed his opposition to the withdrawal of these soldiers from the territory of Iraq, where they have been since 2014.
