America’s attitude towards Ukraine and Israel is a sign of Washington’s hypocrisy and double standards
According to the Washington Post columnist, America's attitude towards the war in Ukraine and Israel shows Washington's hypocrisy and double standards. |
Washington Post columnist Ishan Tarver writes that for many non-Western foreign observers, the Israeli military strikes that followed the October 7 Hamas operation were a reminder of the United States’ longstanding double standards on the world stage. After this deadly attack by Hamas, Israel has destroyed much of Gaza, killed tens of thousands of civilians and provoked a staggering humanitarian crisis that is getting worse by the day.
At the same time, the West’s claim of support for the Palestinians and its false concern about the humanitarian crisis in Gaza weakens American diplomacy.
In this way, Richard Gowan, director of the International Crisis Group at the United Nations, said that it has become difficult for the United States to criticize Russia because of Washington’s frequent use of its veto right in the United Nations Security Council regarding the war in the Gaza Strip. In addition, the Russians openly point to US hypocrisy, Govan added.
The emerging reality is that we live in a world increasingly divided by the weakening influence of the United States, shifting alliances, and the ongoing erosion of international law and global principles, the author of the article notes.
Previously, many countries criticized America’s dual policy regarding the war in Ukraine and the occupied territories.
