The authorities of the city of Nanjing announced on Saturday morning that 15 people were killed after a fire broke out in a residential building in this city, which is located in eastern China, on Friday morning.
According to the RT report, Nanjing Mayor Chen Shichang said in a press conference: As a result of this incident, 15 people died and 44 others were taken to the hospital, one of them is in critical condition and 42 people are in critical condition. They were slightly injured.
The fire happened at 4:39 in the morning on Friday. At this moment, the local fire department received a fire alarm in a residential building in Nanjing’s Yuhuatai District.
Firefighters intervened and broke the door to save 760 people who were in this building. Firefighters were able to put out the fire around 6:00 a.m., while the search and rescue work ended at around 2:00 p.m.
In the initial investigations, it was found that the fire started on the first floor of the building where the electric bicycles were placed and then spread to the rest of the building. However, the investigation about how this incident happened is still ongoing.
