Australia sanctions Russia again
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Australia announced the imposition of sanctions against 55 Russian citizens and 37 of its entities. |
Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong announced that the country’s government has imposed additional financial restrictions and bans on 55 Russian citizens and 37 Russian organizations.
According to the Al Jazeera report, he explained in a statement that the reason for the sanctions is the expulsion of Ukrainian children from the areas controlled by Russia, which Canberra claimed was done under the auspices of Moscow.
Wong announced in this regard: These sanctions follow the decision of the International Criminal Court to issue an arrest warrant against Russian President Vladimir Putin and Maria Lova Belova, the Russian Presidential Commissioner for Human Rights.
It is worth noting that Russia described the Hague International Criminal Court as a puppet in the hands of the West and said that the decision to arrest Putin was aimed at putting pressure on Russia. Moscow emphasized that Russia considers the jurisdiction of the Hague International Criminal Court and its decisions to be legally invalid and does not recognize it.
The Australian statement did not reveal the full list of citizens and companies subject to the new restrictions, but Wong noted that the list included companies in Russia’s defense complex, energy and mining sectors and a number of companies and media organizations linked to Russian supply chains in Belarus. Iran and North Korea.
