Egyptian authorities announced this Sunday that a boat sank in the Qanatar area of Giza province (north of Cairo) and a number of workers inside were killed.
According to the website of Bawaba Al-Ahram newspaper, the river rescue forces at the General Directorate of Civil Protection of Giza found the bodies of three workers who drowned in the accident of a boat full of workers of the contracting company near the village of Nakla.
The newspaper also announced that specialized teams are still completing the search for the remaining missing persons.
Initially, an Egyptian official had received a report that a ship had sunk in Ezbat Rabai area of Nakla village, and the security forces immediately moved to the place of the report with the support of river rescue forces.
Bawabe Al-Ahram announced that there were 8 to 10 workers belonging to the contractor company in the sunken ship and that all the necessary legal measures have been taken regarding this incident and the prosecutor’s office has taken over the direct investigation.
