America training a generation of Ukrainian spies
An American newspaper revealed that Washington trained a generation of Ukrainian spies and deployed them in Russia, Cuba, Europe and other parts of the world. |
The American newspaper “New York Times” disclosed important details of the intelligence cooperation between the United States and Ukraine through the CIA and other intelligence agencies of this country.
This newspaper published a report titled Spy War: How the CIA is Covertly Helping Ukraine. The New York Times revealed that a secret facility located underground in a dense, desolate and destroyed forest was established under the supervision of the Ukrainian military to train spies.
This American newspaper claimed that inside this facility, which is financed and equipped by the CIA, teams of Ukrainian soldiers track Russian spy satellites and listen to the conversations of Russian leaders.
According to the newspaper, intelligence cooperation between Washington and Kiev has become the backbone of Ukraine’s military ability to counter Russia, noting that Washington provides intelligence on missile attacks, tracks Russian troop movements, and supports Spy networks help.
According to the New York Times, the cooperation is not the result of wartime, as the spying point is part of a CIA-backed network of spy bases built over the past eight years that includes 12 secret sites along the Russian border.
Since 2008, Ukraine has become an intelligence-gathering center that intercepts more Russian communications than the CIA station, which helped the country provide critical intelligence services to the United States in 2014 and 2016. In 2016, the CIA began training an elite Ukrainian force known as Unit 2245, one of whose officers was Kirill Budanov, who today heads Ukraine’s military intelligence.
The newspaper confirmed that the CIA also helped train a new generation of Ukrainian spies who worked inside Russia, in Europe, Cuba and other places where Russians have a significant presence.
US intelligence support to Ukraine complements political, military and financial support, more details of which are gradually revealed, as reported by the American electronic magazine Responsible Statecraft, which states that US financial support to Ukraine totals $113 billion. .
In its report, the magazine confirmed that the Pentagon had sent at least 3 million artillery shells to Ukraine, most of which were of 155mm caliber, the standard size used by the US and its NATO allies. However, many Western newspapers acknowledged that these efforts were not successful in weakening Russia, noting that increased pressure on Kiev would leave it from a weaker position to seek a solution with Russia.
