Germany’s defense minister accelerates the modernization of the army

According to the report of the international group Tasnim news agency quoting NTV, Boris Pistorius, the Minister of Defense of Germany, has announced that he wants to expand the infrastructure of the army faster. According to him, in order to create facilities for the German army with the help of States are also needed. Accordingly, Pistorius emphasizes the necessity of cooperation in this field with the state authorities. He intends to create a joint action plan for the faster implementation of the future structural projects of the army.

Pistorius pointed to prioritizing military construction projects and standardizing construction modules so that accommodation, canteens or ammunition depots do not have to go through a new approval process in each federal state. The goal is also to increase the use of general contractors, consolidate the purchase of weapons and infrastructure, and free government construction authorities from smaller orders. If we continue at this pace – this is not a criticism of the states, but a discussion of resources and setting priorities – we need about 25 years to meet the needs of about 24 billion euros of the Bundeswehr for the modernization and modernization of infrastructure. Pistorius warned: “It must be clear to everyone that these conditions are not acceptable at a time of change. We cannot wait that long and the implementation of military construction projects must be clearly accelerated.”

These days, the German army, which is heavily involved in aid to Ukraine, according to the officials of this security institution, is facing many problems, especially in the field of recruiting sufficient and strong forces and the lack of equipment and funds.
