Austria: Russia’s presence in Ukraine negotiations is mandatory

The chancellor of Austria says that the presence of Russia in the talks related to the settlement of the war in Ukraine is mandatory.

report Mehr News Agency Quoting Rashatudi, Chancellor of Austria Karl Niehammer stressed the necessity of Moscow’s presence in the talks to resolve the war in Ukraine. He expressed his desire for direct negotiations with Vladimir Putin, the President of Russia.

Nihamer, who was speaking at the special meeting of Ukraine in Paris, while emphasizing the expression of “full solidarity with Kyiv” He said that solving this crisis requires more effort.

He continued by pointing out that the international community should send the message to Putin that the war against Ukraine brings the Russian Federation and him (Putin) to an impasse, he said that he also supports a diplomatic solution to solve the crisis.

Nihamer said: Putin must also be present at the negotiating table because otherwise, we will not reach peace. . If my negotiation with Putin is fruitful, I have no problem with this.

The Austrian Prime Minister was the last Western leader to talk to Putin in person in Moscow. This negotiation took place in April 2022, a few weeks after the start of the war in Ukraine. Niehammer said at the time that “this trip is not a friendly meeting” and added that he had warned Putin about intensifying Western sanctions.

Nevertheless, in his recent speech, Niehammer from the member countries of the “BRICS” group, which recently has expanded, he asked them to play a “more active role” in solving the Ukraine crisis and exerting pressure on Russia. None of the member countries of this group, which accounts for about 30% of the world’s gross domestic product, has supported Western sanctions against Moscow.
