NATO opposes Macron’s proposal to send troops to Ukraine

Nato Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said on Tuesday that the alliance has no plans to deploy military forces in Ukraine. “NATO allies are providing unprecedented support to Ukraine,” Stoltenberg told The Associated Press. Pilar Alegría, the spokesperson of the Spanish government, also said in a press conference today that Spain is against the idea of ​​sending military forces from any EU country to Ukraine, which was presented by French President Emmanuel Macron.

German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius also said on Tuesday that his country will not send troops to Ukraine.

Meanwhile, British Prime Minister Rishi Sonak’s spokesman also announced that London has no plans to deploy “large-scale” military forces in Ukraine.

Earlier, Moscow warned that the possible deployment of NATO ground forces in Ukraine would mean a declaration of war.

The comments came after French President Emmanuel Macron revealed that members of the European Union and NATO could deploy troops to the war-torn country in the future, although he stressed that there was no consensus on the matter. It does not exist.
