Most Americans support the idea of building a wall on the border with Mexico

According to the latest polls, more than half of Americans agree with the construction of a barrier wall on the US-Mexico border.

More than 50 percent of Americans support building a wall along the US-Mexico border to combat the influx of illegal immigrants. This is shown by the results of a Monmouth University survey.

According to the study, 53 percent of Americans support the construction of a border wall, the highest number since the first poll on the issue in 2015. At the same time, 46 percent of respondents do not support the construction of barriers along the southern border.

It is noted that 23% of the participants in the survey consider illegal immigration a serious problem and 61% consider it very serious. At the same time, this survey showed that one in three Americans (32%) believe that immigrants commit more violent crimes than American citizens.

This poll was conducted from February 8 to 12 with a margin of error of 4.1 percent. 902 people participated in it.

On January 24, US Senator Joe Manchin (D-West Virginia) said the situation at the US-Mexico border is the biggest crisis facing America due to illegal immigration.

American President Joe Biden has been criticized many times for his immigration policy. Earlier, Texas Governor Greg Abbott accused Biden of exacerbating the situation with illegal immigration at the US-Mexico border. The Biden administration has repealed several immigration laws passed by his predecessor, Donald Trump, most notably the provision deporting unaccompanied children from the United States. By changing this law, the number of deported immigrants with children has decreased significantly.
