Applying unilateral sanctions against the Syrian people while claiming to be concerned about its miserable human condition is nothing but hypocrisy. These illegal and destructive practices must be stopped immediately.
Furthermore, humanitarian aid and reconstruction projects in Syria should not be used as a tool to exert political pressure on the Syrian government.
The Islamic Republic of Iran appreciates and thanks the efforts of the Syrian Arab Republic to support and facilitate humanitarian access to all regions of this country.
The Islamic Republic of Iran respects the sovereign decision of the Syrian government to extend the permission granted to the United Nations and its specialized agencies to use the “Bab Al-Havi”, “Bab al-Salamah” and “Al-Ra’i” crossings. It welcomes for another six and three months respectively.
We emphasize the need for unhindered access to humanitarian aid, especially through the cross-border mechanism and in full coordination with the Syrian government.

Unfortunately, these projects are not financed or implemented due to the destructive effects of unilateral coercive measures.
We seize the opportunity and again condemn the theft of natural resources of the Syrian people in the areas occupied by the US forces.
To ensure a more effective political solution to the Syrian crisis, the Islamic Republic of Iran continues to strongly emphasize that the Syrian-led and owned political process, facilitated by the United Nations, It is the only practical approach to end the crisis.
We support the resumption of the Constitutional Committee meetings as an effective mechanism to advance the political process.
The Iraqi government has shown its willingness to host the next round of meetings in Baghdad, which has been positively received by the Syrian government and the guarantor countries of the Astana process. The Islamic Republic of Iran wants the parties involved to seize such an opportunity and prioritize fundamental discussions over procedural issues.
The Islamic Republic of Iran, together with its partners in the Astana process, is committed to work towards the normalization of the situation in a long-term and stable way in and around Syria.
