The President of Turkey announced on Wednesday night that he is ready to host talks between Russia and Ukraine. |
Turkey’s president said on Wednesday night that the country is ready to host peace talks between Russia and Ukraine again.
According to Anatolia news agency, Recep Tayyip Erdogan said in a video message that he is of the opinion that diplomacy and dialogue should be given a chance for a “just and sustainable solution” to the war in Ukraine.
He said: “I believe that joint efforts should be started at least to determine the general terms of peace.”
Moscow has always stated that it is ready for negotiations, but Kiev, in its law, prohibits negotiations with Russia. The West continuously asks Russia to negotiate with Ukraine, and while Moscow has shown readiness, the West ignores Kiev’s constant refusal to negotiate with Moscow.
The president of Turkey further said that he is ready to help in the rapid reconstruction of Ukraine.
Erdogan also emphasized the need for maritime safety regulations in the Black Sea.
Turkey’s presidential office announced yesterday that Russian President Vladimir Putin had a phone call with Erdogan.
According to this report, in this phone call, Putin thanked Erdogan for the influence he had on the development of relations between the two countries.
Earlier, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov stated that Zelensky’s peace formula is completely incomprehensible, and everyone is aware of this, but the West still insists that there is no other basis for peace.
