The European Parliament has called for an immediate and permanent ceasefire for the first time since the start of the Zionist regime’s aggression in Gaza, where the regime continues its attacks against civilians.
According to Anatolia news agency, the 2023 report in the General Assembly of the European Parliament on the “situation of human rights and democracy in the world and the policy of the European Union towards it” was approved with a majority of 265 votes in favor, 253 votes against and 10 abstentions.
At the request of the members of the left group in the European Parliament, the phrase “call for an immediate and permanent ceasefire in Gaza” was added to Article 62 of this report.
Corrected and confirmed in the new report: The European Union, its member states and the international community in particular call for an immediate and permanent ceasefire in the Gaza Strip to ensure uninterrupted access to food and water for all.
In this way, the European Parliament called for a ceasefire in Gaza for the first time. In the resolution approved on January 18, the permanent ceasefire was conditional on the release of all prisoners and the dissolution of Hamas.
At the General Assembly meeting on the disputed report on Tuesday, many delegates criticized the failure to include Gaza in the report and accused the European Union of letting the Israeli regime go unpunished despite the crimes it has committed.
