Trump’s name was removed from the internal party elections in Illinois

One of the judges of the state of Illinois announced in a ruling that the former president of the United States cannot participate in the primary elections of the Republican Party in this state.

report Mehr News Agency quoted by Rashatodi, Tracy Porter, the judge of the Cook County Court in the state of Illinois, USA, announced that the actions of Donald Trump, the former president of this country, in the January 6, 2021 riot, he has made him ineligible to participate in the primary elections of the Republican Party in Illinois.

The judge ordered Trump’s name to be removed from the ballots and gave his legal team two days to appeal. This ruling will be effective from March 1. Illinois primaries will be held on March 19.

The Illinois judge has ruled against Trump by referring to the “Sedition Article” in the 14th Amendment of the US Constitution. According to this article, former US officials are prohibited from returning to government or military positions in case of intervention in riots or riots.

This is the third attempt by the state to disqualify Trump. Previously, the states of Colorado and Maine sought to disqualify Trump by citing the above article. However, the final decision on this matter depends on the decision of the US Supreme Court.

Trump is considered the leading candidate of the Republican Party in the American November elections.
