The spokesperson of the United Nations Secretary General announced the completion of the United Nations Integrated Transitional Assistance Mission in Sudan (UNITAMS).

Stefan Dujarric, the spokesman of the Organization’s Secretary General, announced that the transfer aid delegation left Sudan today, February 29, and the Secretary General expressed his deep gratitude to all the international and local members of this delegation for their dedication and efforts to serve the people of Sudan. is.

Dujarric indicated that a limited team of UN staff would remain in Port Sudan to monitor the process of disbanding the mission from March 1, and the Secretary-General counted on the full cooperation of the Sudanese authorities to ensure this.

The UN statement warned that the conflict in Sudan not only endangers the country and the entire region, but also destroys the rule of law and protection of civilians more than ever.

The statement added that the UN Secretary-General calls on all parties to the conflict to lay down arms and commit to comprehensive peace talks leading to the resumption of a civilian-led democratic transition.

The UN spokesperson stressed that the organization will not leave Sudan and will be strongly committed to providing life-saving humanitarian aid and supporting the Sudanese people in their aspirations for peace and a secure future.
