Transferring the bodies of the victims of the Il-76 plane crash to Ukraine

The human rights commissioner of Russia announced: the bodies of the victims of the Il-76 plane crash will be transferred to Ukraine.

Tatyana Moskalkova, the Russian human rights commissioner, told the Ria news website: Russia is ready to hand over the bodies of 65 Ukrainian prisoners of war who died in the crash of the Russian Il-76 military plane on January 24.

Moskalkova said: “Yes, we are ready, the bodies can be delivered according to the existing procedures.”

Russia confirmed: Il-76 carrying Ukrainian prisoners was shot down by a MIM-104A anti-aircraft guided missile of the US Patriot complex, manufactured by Raytheon and Hughes.

The investigative committee on the crash of the Il-76 plane reported that among the remaining evidence found at the crash site were the bodies of Ukrainian prisoners of war who died in the incident.

After the release of pictures, it turned out that the Il-76 plane did not fall, but was hit by a missile. At the same time, Sputnik, citing the Ministry of Defense of Russia, reported that there were 65 captured Ukrainian military personnel on the said plane, who were being transferred to the Belgorod region for exchange. According to this report, there were also six crew and three other people in this plane.
