Putin called for negotiations to neutralize “space threats”.
Putin suggested looking into how to neutralize what are alleged to be potential threats from space. |
Russian President Vladimir Putin on Friday proposed to the country’s Security Council (SBRF) to consider how to neutralize what he described as potential threats from space.
Putin emphasized that such a threat must be “constantly in our sphere of attention.” He also emphasized that despite the claims of the West, Russia has no plans to launch weapons in space.
Putin’s comments came as the United States and its allies claimed Russia was preparing to install weapons in space, which Putin has previously denied.
Earlier, Putin, in a meeting with Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu, said: This is the answer to the noise that has recently been raised in the West, including in the United States, about the deployment of Russian nuclear weapons in space. Our position is clear and transparent: we have always been firmly against (the deployment of Russian nuclear weapons in space) and we are against it now.
