On Thursday, the US Senate rejected the resolution to stop the sale of 23 billion dollars of F-16 fighter jets to Turkey.
Representatives of the Senate voted 79 to 13 to reject the resolution disapproving the sale presented by Republican Senator Rand Paul. .
Before the vote, the American senator criticized the Turkish government, saying that allowing the sale would make Turkey misbehave. However, senators supporting the sale of F-16 fighter jets announced that it is important for Washington to keep its promise to a NATO ally.
After Turkey agreed to Sweden joining NATO, US President Joe Biden approved the sale of these fighters to Ankara.
