The foreign ministers of Armenia and Turkey announced their readiness for the complete normalization of relations between the two countries at the Antalya Diplomacy Forum.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia announced that the country’s Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan and Turkey’s Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan confirmed their readiness for full normalization of relations at the diplomatic meeting in Antalya.

The statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia states: In this meeting, the process of normalization of relations between Armenia and Turkey was discussed, and it was also agreed on the preparation to achieve the full normalization of relations. It was discussed about firm steps in this direction.

The third Antalya Diplomacy Forum is being held under the chairmanship of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, and according to the media of this country, in this year’s meeting, more than 20 presidents from more than 100 countries, 90 foreign ministers and 80 representatives of organizations are present internationally.

Following the massacre of Armenians in the First World War in the Ottoman Empire, relations between Turkey and Armenia became strained; According to Armenia, the crimes are genocide, but Turkey seriously rejects this title.

Also, following the conflict between the Republic of Azerbaijan and Armenia over the Nagorno-Karabakh region, Turkey closed its border with Armenia in 1993. In December 2021, Armenia and Turkey appointed special envoys to normalize their relations.
