The new head of the Security Council: If a new resolution on Gaza is presented, we will review it

The Japanese ambassador and interim head of the Security Council announced that he will review a new resolution to establish a ceasefire in Gaza.

The ambassador of Japan and the rotating chairman of the Security Council, who has been the rotating chairman of this council since today, March 1, 2024, equivalent to 11 March 1402, announced that if a new resolution is presented for Establishing a ceasefire in Gaza will check it.

France, one of the 5 permanent members with veto power of the UN Security Council, presided over this council in January, and then Guyana and now Japan, another non-permanent member of the Security Council, presided over this council for It is in charge of one month (March).

Since the start of the war between Israel and the Palestinian resistance groups on October 7, 2023 (October 15, 1402), the 15-member UN Security Council has not been able to pass any resolution to establish an immediate ceasefire in Gaza due to the comprehensive support of the United States to Tel Aviv. On February 20, 2024 (March 1, 1402), America vetoed for the third time the draft resolution proposed to establish an immediate ceasefire in Gaza. This resolution won 13 positive votes of the 15-member Security Council, but the United States opposed it, causing it not to be approved or the same veto of the resolution. England, another member of the Security Council, also abstained.

A resolution to be approved by the Security Council requires 9 votes without opposition or the veto of five permanent members of this council (America, England, Russia, China and France).
