Iraqi Foreign Minister Fawad Hossein told Novosti news agency on the sidelines of the Antalya Diplomatic Forum: If two sides (Russia and Ukraine) request us to mediate, we will take steps in this direction. had.

Hussein noted that he was part of the contact group formed by the Arab League, which included the foreign ministers of Egypt, Algeria, Iraq, Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia and Sudan, in addition to the Secretary General of the League in March 2022.

He said: “This group was invited to contact the two sides and mediate. We visited Moscow. We had a meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation (Sergei Lavrov) and we met with his Ukrainian counterpart in Warsaw and offered to mediate between the two sides, but the situation was very difficult.”

Moscow has previously announced several times that it is ready to negotiate, because the West keeps calling Russia to negotiate and Moscow also declares its readiness for it, but at the same time, the West ignores Kiev’s continued refusal to participate in the dialogue. takes.
