Activists of the “last generation” painted the facade of the federal chancellor’s office with orange paint in a protest this Saturday morning. In the photo published by the protest group, a large text with the words “Help!” Your children” and a large number of handprints are visible. As can be seen in the photo, several activists were lying on the ground in front of the wall and others were sitting.
According to the Berlin police, 16 people between the ages of 13 and 16 were temporarily detained for identity checks. The German police operation continued on Saturday morning. The Federal Police has launched an investigation into the alleged damage to property.
Participants in this protest action asked the German federal government to be aware of its responsibility towards the younger generation regarding climate change, and as which was said in a message from “the last generation” to “finally face it”.
This protest group had previously held similar protest actions in protest against the government’s climate policies.
