Russia neutralized a wave of drone attacks in Crimea
The Russian Defense Ministry announced today (Sunday) that Russian air defense systems shot down 38 Ukrainian drones over the Crimean Peninsula. |
The Ministry of Defense of Russia said in a statement: “In the past hours, the attempt of the Kiev regime to carry out a terrorist attack using 38 fixed-wing drones on targets in the territory of the Russian Federation was prevented . All Ukrainian drones were destroyed by air defense systems over the territory of the Republic of Crimea.
As reported by Rasha Today, the Russian Ministry of Defense said that Ukrainian forces carried out another coordinated attack against the Crimean Peninsula, in which dozens of hostile drones were destroyed by Russian air defense overnight and did not reach their targets.
There have been no reports of damage or casualties, and it is unclear where exactly the drones were intercepted. During the night, Russian authorities blocked several sections of the highway leading to the Crimean bridge, as well as the crossing itself.
The Crimean peninsula, which is the main base of the Russian Navy, has repeatedly been the target of Ukrainian drone and missile attacks.
Ukraine has also used naval drones several times to attack Russian port infrastructure in Sevastopol. The drones targeted key transportation infrastructure, including the 19-kilometer Crimean Bridge, which was heavily damaged in an attack in July, but was later repaired and fully reopened in October.
On Saturday morning, agents of the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) intercepted a car carrying explosives that was trying to cross from the Kherson region of Russia to Crimea. A source told RIA Novosti that an improvised bomb was discovered, which was made from parts that NATO countries supplied to Ukraine.
