According to the regional office of Tasnim News Agency, “Shir Mohammad Abbas Stanekzai”, Political Deputy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Taliban government Emphasizing that the ruling body is committed to paying Iran’s dues, he said: Currently, there is enough water to meet the needs of the citizens of Afghanistan. There is no rain or snow in Afghanistan, if there is water, it is not enough for us to release to Iran, because the amount of water does not solve our internal problems.
He emphasized that if the water increases In the Helmand Sea (Hirmand) and solving the challenges of the country’s citizens in this field, Iran will be paid.
“Zabihullah Mujahid”, the spokesman of the Taliban government, had previously said many times referring to Iran’s Haqaba: if Afghanistan is committed to the agreement on Iran’s right to water from the Helmand River.
According to the Afghanistan-Iran Treaty that was signed in 1351, Tehran has the right to 820 million cubic meters of water from this river every year. In Iran, it is known as Hirmand to receive.
Earlier, a joint working group was formed between Afghanistan and Iran with the aim of following up on the issue of Haqaba.
