America has sanctioned 11 Zimbabwean officials and three organizations
The US Department of Treasury announced the imposition of sanctions against the President of Zimbabwe, his wife and vice president, as well as eight senior officials of the country. |
In a statement, the United States Department of the Treasury announced the imposition of sanctions against the President of Zimbabwe, Emmerson Mnangagwa, his wife, Auxilia Mnangagwa, and the Vice President of Zimbabwe, Constantino Chiyonga, as well as eight senior officials of the country.
According to Reuters, the Office of Foreign Assets Control of the US Treasury announced that three Zimbabwean organizations were also involved in corruption or serious human rights violations in the country. These three organizations will also be in this country.
The new sanctions against Zimbabwe come as US President Joe Biden signed an executive order on Monday ending all US sanctions against the country, but the US Treasury Department withdrew an executive order from the Trump administration. The former president of this country has used it as his license to impose new sanctions.
At the same time, following this decision by the US Treasury Department, Zimbabwe has stopped its participation in the negotiations to settle the country’s international debts.
