This meeting is held while the Organization of Islamic Cooperation previously held an extraordinary meeting of its executive committee at the level of foreign ministers of the member countries in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, in order to review the developments in the situation in Gaza on October 18, 2023 (26 Mehr).

The Organization of Islamic Cooperation also held an emergency meeting of the heads of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, in continuation of its meetings related to the crimes of the Zionist regime against the people of Gaza and creating deterrence in connection with it on November 20 of this year.

At the end of this meeting, a 20-point statement was published in which the member countries were asked to take all possible and effective diplomatic, legal and preventive measures to stop the crimes against humanity of Israel, this power based on occupation.

Also, the Secretary General of this organization was given the mandate to be in contact with the five permanent members of the Security Council / the Secretary General of the United Nations / the High Commissioner for Human Rights / the Presidency of the European Union Commission and in order to take the necessary steps to force the Israeli regime to stop All its violations, attacks and crimes and continue to try to provide international support to the Palestinian people in coordination with regional and international organizations including the League of Arab States, the Gulf Cooperation Council, the African Union and the Non-Aligned Movement.

The statement called on the United Nations and the UN Security Council to assume their responsibilities and take all urgent measures to ensure an end to the brutal and barbaric aggression against the Palestinian people (especially in the Gaza Strip). and all Palestinian territories), the entry of humanitarian aid, the protection of defenseless Palestinian civilians, and the halting of the escalating humanitarian disaster being wrought by the illegal Israeli occupation forces.

While about five months have passed since the meeting of foreign ministers and four months have passed since the meeting of the leaders of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, this international organization, whose philosophy was to defend the cause of Palestine, has not been able to take any practical action to stop the crimes of the Zionist regime. and in the past 151 days, more than 30,000 Palestinians have been martyred as a result of this regime’s attacks, most of whom are civilians; According to Al Jazeera’s report, quoted by the Palestinian Ministry of Health, the casualties of the Zionist regime’s aggression since October 7 have reached 30,534 martyrs and 71,920 injured.

The state media office in Gaza also emphasized: Since the beginning of Israel’s war against Gaza, the number of child martyrs has increased to 13,430 and women to 8,900.

On the other hand, the threats of the Zionist regime to kill the Palestinian people continue and the possibility of sending humanitarian aid to the people of Gaza has reached its minimum as the occupying authorities continue to prevent humanitarian aid from entering the Gaza Strip, especially to the northern areas. The residents of the Gaza Strip are on the brink of an unprecedented famine that has killed a number of children and babies.

The second meeting of foreign ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation will be held today, while some Islamic countries, despite their media positions and fiery speeches of their leaders in support of Palestine, continue to trade with this regime and sometimes play an important role. They play a role in supplying the energy needed by this regime, and there is no news of Israeli goods being embargoed in these countries.

Considering the position and special importance of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation in relation to the Palestinian issue and the fact that the philosophy of the formation of this organization was related to the Palestinian issue, it was expected that during the last five months the crimes of the Zionist regime against the innocent people of Palestine and Gaza, let us witness an effective and decisive action by this organization to stop these crimes, but unfortunately, despite the two emergency meetings held by this organization, we have not witnessed this organization being able to deter the continuation of crimes as it should. The Zionist regime should play a role.

As the spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran announced on Monday, the role of the Islamic countries in today’s summit is clear. They must make a serious decision to prevent the continued attacks of the Zionist regime against the people of Gaza, to end the war, and to provide the ground for humanitarian aid to be sent to the Palestinian people, and to prevent the Zionists from realizing their sinister goal of displacing the people of Gaza.

In the context of the importance of the Palestinian issue in the Islamic world and among the Islamic Ummah, Islamic countries should not let the killing of the Palestinian people by the Zionists become a daily and normal thing; The policy that the authorities of the Zionist regime are looking for, and in this regard, they are trying to divert the attention of the world’s public opinion from the Palestinian issue by expanding the scope of the war in the West Asia region, so that they can continue their killing with a more open hand.

The performance record of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and major Islamic countries during the last five months regarding the recent developments of the Palestinian issue has not been acceptable among the public opinion of the Islamic world, and it is expected that in today’s meeting, considering the amount of killing of Zionists in Gaza These countries should not be satisfied with just making a speech about the condemnation of this massacre, and considering the huge potential in the Islamic world, they should take a practical action to create a deterrent for the continuation of the massacre by the Zionists, in this context, perhaps cutting off political and economic relations with this country. Diet can be one of the most objective measures in this field.
