Complaining to the Canadian government due to the export of weapons to the Zionist regime
Supporters of Palestine in Canada filed a lawsuit and asked the federal government to stop the issuance of weapons export licenses to the Zionist regime. |
reported by According to a statement provided by the plaintiffs, the suit, filed in federal court, argues that Canadian law prevents military exports to Israel because ” There is concern that these military items are used to violate international laws and commit serious acts of violence against women and children.
The plaintiffs include the group “Canadian Lawyers for International Human Rights”, “Palestinian Al-Haq Organization” and four people.
A spokesperson for Global Affairs Canada said in a written statement: “Our policy on export licenses has not changed. Canada has one of the strongest export control systems in the world, and respect for human rights is enshrined in our export control legislation.”
He said: “In recent years, the government has not received any requests to export weapons to Israel, and therefore no licenses have been issued. The licenses issued since October 7th and in fact all licenses which currently exist, is related to non-lethal equipment.”
NATO allies, the United States and the Netherlands are also facing lawsuits over the Gaza war. Last month, a Dutch court ordered the government to prevent the export of F-35 fighter parts to Israel due to concerns that they could be used to violate international law.
