Creating fake images with artificial intelligence, the new challenge of the upcoming American elections
Fake images produced by artificial intelligence increase the credibility of false news and jeopardize the integrity of elections. |
The US Center for Countering Digital Hate, a non-profit research organization, says the use of artificial intelligence tools to create fake images has raised concerns about next fall’s elections in this country.
According to Reuters, the organization says it is possible that some people or groups will use the images produced by artificial intelligence as evidence of their false claims, which will be a significant challenge to maintain the integrity of the election.
Previously, Politico reported that in the run-up to several important elections around the world, tech giants are looking to combat the spread of fake news generated by artificial intelligence.
It has been said that Adobe, Google, Meta, Microsoft, OpenAI and Tik Tok are preparing a draft of a joint plan, based on which they will take more serious measures to fight fake news and deepfakes. Adding a watermark (text or a special logo placed on images) will be one of the tools to combat the spread of fake news. New techniques are also going to be used to identify and remove artificially manipulated images and sounds more easily.
