Meetings related to Iran in the Council of Governors ended without issuing a resolution

The meetings related to Iran in the Board of Governors of the International Atomic Energy Agency ended without issuing a resolution against our country's nuclear program, despite the space constructions and political camp of Western countries.

Mikhail Ulyanov, ambassador and permanent representative of Russia, published a message on X social network (former Twitter) and wrote: The Board of Governors of the International Atomic Energy Agency has completed the review of issues related to Iran and No decision or resolution was issued.

This is the fifth time in a row that efforts to revive the failed project of securing Iran’s nuclear file have been blocked in the Council of Governors, and not only no resolution has been issued, but not even a consensus has been formed to issue a non-binding statement against Iran.

In this meeting, Western countries with specific motivations and positions against the Islamic Republic of Iran tried to overturn the peaceful nature of Iran’s nuclear program by combining the alleged safeguard issues with Iran’s compensatory measures in the JCPOA and actions taken within the framework of the Parliament’s strategic law. show and make the alleged protection issues the basis of their political positions.

Laura Holgate, the ambassador of the United States, a country that is considered the main violator of the 1994 agreement, avoided addressing the agenda of the meeting during a speech related to the JCPOA and Resolution 2231 of the United Nations Security Council, and claimed by projecting about our country’s nuclear program. that the progress of Iran’s nuclear industry does not pursue any valid peaceful goal.

In this regard, he asked Iran to dilute a part of its uranium reserves and to completely stop the production of uranium with a purity of 60%. Then, in the meeting related to the implementation of the safeguard agreement in Iran, he demanded Tehran’s meaningful interaction with the Agency to resolve the remaining safeguard issues.

The three European countries, England, France and Germany, which have been taking a coordinated position on Iran’s nuclear case since the past, after repeating political and threadbare claims about the progress of our country’s nuclear industry, claimed that Iran should take practical steps to de-escalate its nuclear program. .

The European Troika, without mentioning which country is to blame for the current situation in the implementation of the JCPOA and by delaying the decision, brought the Vienna negotiations to a dead end, demanding that Iran return to the full implementation of the obligations of the 1994 agreements, the implementation of the additional protocol and the March agreement last year. They were called the March 4 statement about the settlement of safeguard issues.

They claimed: Iran must now take serious and meaningful steps that show the country’s real desire to de-escalate and rebuild the necessary trust between Iran and the international community.

The three countries claimed: We will continue consultations with our international partners on the best solution to resolve the growing doubts about the peaceful nature of Iran’s nuclear program.

On the other hand, the permanent representative of Russia to the international organizations based in Vienna stated that Iran’s nuclear program is under the permanent control of the agency and clarified that questions about nuclear verifications in Iran should be resolved based on existing procedures.

In another part of his statement, he asked the Secretariat of the International Atomic Energy Agency to base its evaluations and conclusions on Iran’s nuclear program on “objective” facts. Ulyanov said: “It is important that the secretariat adheres to its technical agenda and that its summaries and assessments are objective and fact-based and are based on nuclear verifications and not on inferences about Iran’s intentions.”

Mohsen Naziri, the ambassador of our country, also emphasized during his speech: Iran’s nuclear activities, including enrichment at different levels, are completely peaceful and in accordance with our rights according to the NPT treaty. Stating that Iran’s nuclear activities are under the supervision and verification of the IAEA, he added: Iran’s compensatory measures in the JCPOA have no effect on the IAEA’s monitoring and verification in the framework of the Comprehensive Safeguard Agreement that is being carried out.

It should be said that after the unilateral withdrawal of the United States from the JCPOA and the procrastination of the European parties in fulfilling their obligations in this agreement, Iran took steps in accordance with clauses 26 and 36 of the JCPOA and under the supervision of the IAEA to reduce its obligations in order to balance the implementation of this agreement. establish The Islamic Republic of Iran has always emphasized that the measures taken are reversible and whenever the other parties fully fulfill their obligations, Iran will reciprocate.

Media creation by distorting the words of the Russian ambassador

The BBC network, which had sent a media team to the International Atomic Energy Agency Board of Governors in order to incite against Iran’s nuclear program, manipulated the words of the Russian ambassador about our country’s nuclear program in an unprofessional act.

On Wednesday, BBC Persian published an interview with Mikhail Ulyanov, Russia’s ambassador and permanent representative to international organizations, and tried to insinuate that Moscow, along with other Western countries, is concerned about Iran’s nuclear developments.

The headline of this targeted news read: “Meeting of the International Atomic Energy Agency; Ulyanov: Russia is worried about the progress of Iran’s nuclear program. Interestingly, in the text of the same report, the Russian ambassador rejects the incorrect perception of the BBC reporter about Moscow’s position and emphasizes that for this country, issues such as the consequences of America’s maximum pressure policy, the European Troika’s decision to stop the Vienna talks and the lack of diplomacy are relevant. In this interview, Ulyanov says: We are not happy with the current situation and our preference is to return to the JCPOA implementation.

However, BBC, by insisting on its directional news line, started to publish distorted headlines and through several reports, it tried to give a false interpretation of the words of the Russian ambassador, insinuating that the international arrangement towards Iran’s nuclear program has changed and Iran’s problem has become “deeper” in the Council of Governors.

However, after the follow-ups carried out by the Russian representative office, it became clear that the BBC’s opinion does not reflect Russia’s position, and that this country, as a member of the JCPOA, is concerned about the “political” dimensions and conditions of Iran’s nuclear case; An issue that has been repeatedly raised by the Russian ambassador and the behavior of the western parties has been criticized.

Accordingly, the BBC quietly changes the title of its report as follows: “From concerns about the process of nuclear program negotiations to Iran’s cheap missiles; The answers of the representative of Russia in the Agency to BBC Farsi”

This is not the first time that Persian-language channels outside Iran publish false reports and distort the words of foreign officials in line with the goals defined for them by the regime’s opponents.

During the Vienna negotiations, Persian-language networks outside Iran, in line with the policies of the White House, made great efforts to put pressure on the Iranian negotiating team.

It should be mentioned that negotiations for the resumption of JCPOA implementation were held in Vienna in eight rounds with the presence of representatives of the 4+1 Group, the European Union and Iran. The American delegation was also indirectly present in the talks. However, the outcome of the negotiations was delayed due to factors such as inconsistency in behavior, procrastination in decision-making, extravagance and new requests from the US side.

Actually, the experience showed that despite the claims of diplomacy, the White House does not have the necessary will to make a decision to return to the JCPOA and compensate for the failed policy of the former US President Donald Trump’s administration against Iran.

This is while Iran, as a responsible country, has always declared that it is ready to conclude a stable and reliable agreement that will remove the sanctions in a guaranteed way and will not remain as a lever of pressure to be used against Iran in the future. .
