Spain’s 20 million euro contribution to UNRWA

Spain announced that it will contribute 20 million euros to the Palestinian Refugee Agency in addition to the amounts it had previously announced.

Spanish Foreign Minister Jose Manuel Albarez announced in a joint press conference with UNRWA chief Philip Lazzarini that his country will provide 20 million euros of emergency aid to the Palestinian Refugee Agency.

According to Reuters, this amount is in addition to the 3.5 million euros that Spain previously announced in February to pay to this UN agency.

Albars says this new funding is aimed at supporting UNRWA in its humanitarian work and providing food, education and health needs in Gaza.

Before this, in January, the Zionist regime claimed that 12 employees of the Palestinian Refugee Agency, which belongs to the United Nations, were involved in the October 7 attacks. After the claim, many countries suspended aid to the agency. At that time, Spain announced that it would continue to help UNRWA so that the activities of this agency and its aid delivery in Gaza would not be interrupted.

UNRWA says that the Zionist regime has not been able to provide evidence for its claim.

It should be said that UNRWA provides educational, health and shelter facilities for Palestinians who are displaced within their own land or in other countries such as Jordan, Lebanon and Syria. The Zionist regime has been seeking to reduce the budget of this agency for a long time.
