United Nations: There is no alternative to land crossings for aid to Gaza

The United Nations announced: sending humanitarian aid to Gaza by air or sea cannot replace land crossings.

At the end of the Security Council meeting in New York, Sigrid Kag, the UN humanitarian coordinator in Gaza, said: I talked about the importance of land crossings for providing aid to the people of Gaza. This solution is the best solution because it is the easiest, fastest and cheapest solution, especially since we need to deliver humanitarian aid to the people of Gaza for a long period of time.

quoted by Russia Elium, he said about sending air aid to Gaza: This operation is a symbol to support the civilians in Gaza and shows our humanity, but it is a drop in an ocean and it is not enough in any way.

He emphasized: Air and sea routes cannot replace land crossings, but any additional help at this stage is very important.

This UN official welcomed the recent decision of US President Joe Biden to establish a temporary port in Gaza to deliver humanitarian aid by sea and said: other major countries will also join this sea passage.

Sigrid Kag called for the reopening of more land crossings due to the complexity of truck inspection operations at the crossings.

Relief organizations say that the aid that enters the Gaza Strip is very little, and the trucks that bring the aid must obtain the previous approval of the Zionist regime.

According to the United Nations, after 154 days of war and severe siege of Gaza, most of the residents of this region are facing hunger and famine.
