The conversation between the foreign ministers of Türkiye and the United States revolves around sanctions
The foreign ministers of Turkey and the United States are going to discuss with the aim of considering the cancellation of Washington's sanctions against Ankara. |
CNN Turkey reported this Friday, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan is going to talk with US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken.
According to this report, this meeting will be held with the aim of reviewing the cancellation of US sanctions against Turkey and the review of Turkey’s reintegration into the F-35 fighter jet assembly program, which emphasizes an important moment in the complex defense and diplomatic relations between the two NATO allies.
According to the media, one of the topics that will be discussed in this meeting is Washington’s support for the YPG/PKK terrorist organization in Syria.
Two years ago, the United States imposed sanctions against Turkish Defense Industries and its head, Ismail Demir, as well as three other people associated with this entity. The US claimed that Ankara’s decision to buy the S-400 from Russia, while providing significant funding for Russia, jeopardizes NATO’s technology and military personnel.
Turkey, as a NATO member state, has maintained balanced relations with Moscow and Kiev during the Ukraine war, but is under pressure from the West to join sanctions against Russia.
