80% of US port sites can be hacked

American officials claimed to have discovered a new Chinese technology in American ports, which is a kind of espionage tool.

According to what was published by the American newspaper Wall Street Journal, a US congressional investigation found that communication devices installed on Chinese-made cargo cranes have spread inside ports across the United States, as there is concern that foreign machines may be a threat to the national security of this country.

According to this American newspaper, according to documents and aides who work in Congress, the installed parts in some cases include “cellular communication” devices that can be accessed remotely.

The previously unreported discovery of these communications devices by US lawmakers raised concerns in Washington about the security of ports and China. The Pentagon and intelligence officials in the Biden administration have become increasingly concerned about potential disruptions and espionage threats posed by the giant cranes built by ZPMC.

It is worth noting that this company is responsible for almost 80% of ship-to-shore cranes in American ports.

On the other hand, Mark Green, the head of the Homeland Security Committee of the US House of Representatives, who was investigating China’s maritime security threats, claimed: The Chinese government is looking for every opportunity to gather valuable information and put itself in a position to exploit vulnerabilities.

According to the assistant of the committee, the investigation showed that more than 10 cellular communication devices installed on the crane components used in one of the US ports and another communication device was found inside the server room of another port.
