Sweden announced the resumption of its aid to UNRWA

After it became clear that the Zionist regime had obtained confessions from UNRWA employees by torture, Sweden and several other countries started providing aid to this organization.

This Saturday, the Swedish government announced the resumption of financial aid to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestinian Refugees (UNRWA) in stages and according to the humanitarian situation in Gaza. .

According to the Jerusalem Post newspaper, the Swedish government announced in a statement: The government decided to pay 200 million Swedish kroner ($20 million) to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestinian Refugees (UNRWA). In fact, the government has allocated 400 million Swedish kroner (about 38 million dollars) to UNRWA for 2024.

The statement continued: The first payment of SEK 200 million will be made, and additional payments will be made throughout the year based on the progress made in the measures UNRWA has committed to implementing to strengthen internal control.

The statement also confirmed that this decision was taken in the context of the urgent humanitarian situation in Gaza and the new commitments UNRWA made to Sweden regarding increased transparency and tightening of monitoring procedures.

After the Israeli regime claimed that 12 UNRWA employees were somehow involved in the October 7 operation against the occupation regime, several Western countries announced that they had stopped funding last January.

UNRWA, which provides health, education and other services, has faced a major crisis since the Zionist regime claimed that 12 of the agency’s 13,000 staff in Gaza were involved in the October 7 Hamas attack on Israel.
