Pope Francis in an interview with the Swiss “RSI” TV channel, in response to whether “raising the white flag shows the courage of Ukraine or legitimizing the stronger side” said: Who cares about the people and has the courage to raise the white flag and start peace talks is really strong.
At the same time, he added that when someone is aware of his failure, a mistake has happened, it is necessary to show courage and agree to negotiate.
Pope went on to add: “One person might feel ashamed, but if not, a few more people will be killed before it’s all over.” ?
According to Pope Francis, peace talks between Ukraine and Russia can be facilitated through international mediators. He added: For example, Türkiye and other countries can mediate. We should not be ashamed of negotiations that prevent the worst from happening.” The Pope stressed: “It takes real courage not to lead the country to suicide.”
