Taliban: Pakistan has expelled Afghan refugees against international principles

Abdul Qahar Balkhi, the spokesman of the Taliban government’s foreign ministry, in a conversation with Al Jazeera, said that the interim government of Pakistan unilaterally decided to deport Afghan refugees without coordinating with Kabul.

In response to whether there was coordination between Kabul and Islamabad to deport Afghan refugees, Balkhi said: “Unfortunately, this issue was done unilaterally and there was no coordination.” There was no warning. In this regard, they did not follow the international process and principles.

He added: We have shared our concerns with international institutions and also with the government of Pakistan. We hope that we can address each other’s concerns and identify a better path that will protect the goodwill of the Pakistani government and people towards Afghan refugees who have been forcibly displaced from Afghanistan by foreign occupation forces for the past 45 years.
