65% of Americans are dissatisfied with their country’s global position
According to a Gallup poll, 65 percent of Americans are dissatisfied with America's global position, which is the lowest since 2017. |
The results of a new Gallup poll show that only 33% of Americans are satisfied with the US’s global standing, while 65% of American adults believe that America’s global standing is shaky. This figure is the lowest since 2017.
Satisfaction with the global position of the United States declined after the US military conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan, falling to 30 percent in 2008. Since then, it has changed between 32 and 40 percent.
Gallup stated that the last time Americans expressed satisfaction with their country’s global standing was in February 2020, a month before the start of the Covid-19 pandemic. 85% of Republicans, 48% of Independents and 19% of Democrats expressed satisfaction.
The 66 percent gap between Republicans and Democrats was the highest on record. Now, unlike the current time, with Joe Biden taking office, 60% of Democrats, 32% of independents and 8% of Republicans are satisfied with their country’s global position. It’s 2017, while at the same time, nearly 6 in 10 (36 percent) believed the United States was viewed unfavorably in the world.
