In the shadow of Sweden joining NATO, the secretary general of this alliance announced that there is no plan to increase the number of countries with nuclear weapons in this alliance.
NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg announced at the ceremony of Sweden’s accession to this treaty that NATO believes that Russia is not currently a military threat against the alliance countries.
Stoltenberg, when asked if Kiev will receive an invitation for new membership in the bloc, said that it is now closer to NATO membership than ever before.
The Secretary General of the North Atlantic Alliance noted that the question is not whether Ukraine will join NATO, but when it will happen.
In his remarks, Stoltenberg also said that the surrender of Kiev will not bring peace. According to him, negotiations are necessary that should “maintain Ukraine as an independent country.”
Stoltenberg called for a “strengthening” of Kiev to show Moscow that it “will not get what it wants on the battlefield.”
