Al-Arabiya: Hamas agreed to the new American plan for a cease-fire in Gaza

After Egyptian sources announced the new American proposal for a cease-fire in Gaza, Al-Arabiya news channel, citing a high-ranking source in Hamas, claimed that the Palestinian movement had agreed to this American plan.

Al-Arabiya quoted this source and reported: We agreed to the modified American initiative, which is based on a ceasefire and the gradual return of the displaced. Meanwhile, the official sources affiliated with Hamas have not reacted to this news.

A few hours ago, al-Arabi al-Jadeed newspaper reported, citing Egyptian sources who are involved in the process of ceasefire negotiations in the Gaza Strip, that Egypt has sent a message asking the Hamas movement to travel to Cairo.

These sources said that Egypt plans to inform Hamas about the new American plan for a ceasefire in Gaza and “a delegation from this movement will probably enter the Egyptian capital in the coming days”.

Moussa Abu Marzouq, one of the leaders of Hamas, told al-Araby al-Jadeed that he had no information about the possibility of a trip to Cairo by the Hamas delegation, but nevertheless, “there is still time left to reach an agreement”.

Al-Arabiya also reported, quoting a source from Hamas, that a delegation from this movement will go to Cairo in the coming days to review the details of this plan and begin its implementation.

An Egyptian source also said that the American proposal is not a comprehensive ceasefire, but an agreement “to reduce the amount of conflict; Especially since the tension has increased in the region”.

This source also emphasized that with this proposal, the US is only looking for “improving the condition of Israeli prisoners and the temporary delivery of medicine and food [to the Gaza Strip]”.
