reported by Mehr News Agency quoted by Tass, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov called China’s proposal to sign a treaty between nuclear-armed countries on the issue of non-preemptive use of nuclear weapons reasonable.
Ryabkov emphasized: We are considering this proposal. It is clear that in such a situation that the West has taken the path of continuous escalation of tension at the international level and ignores the dangers caused by the direct confrontation of nuclear powers, such initiatives and plans show a level of tact and common sense. /p>
According to Ryabkov, Russia wants to clarify the position of the West on this issue in order to make them ready to consider such plans. The senior Russian diplomat also said that this important issue was not discussed in the recent meeting held at the level of senior officials in Riyadh.
Sun Xiaobo, Deputy Director General of Arms Control of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China, called on the nuclear powers to sign a bilateral treaty on the issue of non-preemptive use of nuclear weapons.
