Erdogan: Putin will visit Ankara after the Turkish elections
After weeks of speculation by Ankara and Moscow officials about the possibility of the Russian President's visit to Turkey, the Turkish President now says that his Russian counterpart will visit Turkey after the elections. |
According to Mehr news agency, citing Tas, Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that he hopes that Russian President Vladimir Putin will visit Ankara after the municipal elections in Turkey on March 31.
He, who was speaking at the Iftar banquet of Turkish foreign ambassadors on Tuesday evening, said: We continue to talk with both of our neighbors in the Black Sea. Last Friday (March 8), we met and talked with Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky in Istanbul, and after the elections [in Turkey], we will be the level of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Erdogan also said that peace plans to resolve the conflict in Ukraine that do not take into account Russia’s position will not work.
President of Turkey said about this: We have shown significant efforts to find ways for peace in the conflict between Russia and Ukraine. While we support the principle of sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, we also say that any peace plan that does not include Russia will be ineffective.”
